Voice Journal ("the App") is designed with privacy as a core principle. Your journal entries are stored locally on your device. We do not sell, share, or monetize your personal data.
Your voice recordings are transcribed on-device using Apple's Speech framework. Audio is never transmitted to any server. The text transcript is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework.
When you record a journal entry, the text transcript is sent to our secure server for AI analysis (mood detection, insights, and summaries). The transcript is processed in real-time and not stored on our servers. The AI analysis results are returned to your device and stored locally.
We generate a random, anonymous device identifier solely for rate limiting purposes. This identifier cannot be used to identify you personally and is not linked to any personal information.
Subscription purchases are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect or store any payment information.
Journal text transcripts are sent to Anthropic's Claude API for analysis through our secure proxy server. Anthropic processes this data according to their privacy policy. Per Anthropic's API terms, data sent via the API is not used to train their models.
Our API proxy runs on Cloudflare Workers. Cloudflare may process request metadata (IP addresses) according to their privacy policy. We do not log or store this information.
All journal data is stored on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework with device-level encryption. Data is protected by your device's passcode and biometric authentication. We have no access to your stored entries.
We do not retain any user data on our servers. Text transcripts sent for AI analysis are processed in real-time and immediately discarded. No journal content is stored server-side.
You can delete any individual journal entry at any time within the app. Deleting the app removes all local data permanently. Since we do not store your data on servers, there is no server-side data to request deletion of.
Voice Journal is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has used the App, please contact us.
Journal data stays on your device. The only data transmitted externally is the text transcript for AI analysis, which is processed through servers in the United States. By using the App, you consent to this processing.
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance.
